Normally one is not conscious of the workings of the mind. 

Most actions are performed subconsciously. 

 Therefore to be spiritual and take control of the mind
you must develop introspective powers 
which will give you insight to the working of the mind. 

 Then when this is accomplished
no thought however insignificant will go unnoticed.
