Being in the moment: so simple a concept in a sense.....
Over the last few months, I have been making a few notes about what I should try to do, what I want, and what I need, trying to keep it all simple. The "real" bedrock however, is to say my mantra (inwardly) and be present...... which comes down to simply remembering to do so. For myself, I describe being "present" as being appreciative.

  2. Why is such a simple concept almost impossible to achieve? We constantly find ourselves forgetting what is truly important. The push and pull of this journey is sometimes exhausting.
Being present in the moment brings such peace and clarity. I find it amazing that i all too often choose exhaustion

  3. For me, I'm surprised at how often I let my mind over complicate my life. Surely if I were in the present moment more often, I'd direct my mental, emotional, physical and spiritual energy to meet my highest needs. It would allow me to be more detached to the situation I'd find myself in and give me peace. In the present moment we can exercise our discernment and free will. We can be courageous and compassionate. We can be focused on what is important and 'our inner truth'. To me 'all else is God' means that everything but the present moment is out of our control (or at the will of God). Time is the most valuable factor for us in this physical world and it is too easy to waste. We have no power being in the past or present, our moment is now.

  4. I remember once (this was nearly 8 years ago) saying in one of Swami's workshops "The choices we make in the moment are what counts". (Swami appreciated that comment!)
